History:

The Importance of environmental risk factors, motivated Tehran University of Medical Sciences to establish the “Center for Environmental Research (CER)” in 2003, CER expanded over the years and was renamed the “Institute for Environmental Research (IER)” in 2010, the first institute in the country focusing on health aspects of environmental pollution at the national level.

Based on the needs assessment, four Research Centers and two departments were established within the IER as follows:

Center for Air Pollution Research (CAPR)

Center for Water Quality Research (CWQR)

Center for Solid Waste Research (CSWR)

Climate Change and Health Research Center (CCHRC)

Department of Pesticides management

 Department of Methodology & Data Analysis
